What’s on in the Children’s Fun Zone Marquee?
This is just one marquee at the Show, its free all day and is ran by Parkway Day Nursery Ltd based in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough. They currently have two sites the main nursery provides full daycare for children aged 6 weeks – 5 years and our second site based in the Manor Hub cares for two, three and four year old funded children, and then after school and holiday club provision for children aged 5 – 14 years. The nursery provides childcare and education following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through various activities, planning and educational resources.
The children’s tent provides free activities for the children throughout the day. We provide an activity for the children to complete and take home this has been different every year e.g. grass head, colour in mugs, planting a sunflower. We then run the competitions for the show where children enter on the day and have a chance to win prize money for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in their age category. These competitions are usually craft where the parents can support their child and are always themed with the show, the judging then takes place by members of the committee at 3pm and all entrants are displayed in the marquee on show day. Alongside these activities we have playdoh, colouring and sports equipment for the children to play with and keep them entertained without the parents having to pay out even more to keep their children busy.
We also have our nursery mascot The Parkway Purple Dragon who comes to meet the children, has photographs taken throughout the day and walks around the show field giving leaflets and goodie bags to children and families.
Within the marquee we also have Defying Gravity – Tom Rolfe who does a couple of shows throughout the day involving circus skills, magic and fun entertainment for children of all ages. We also have Jo Jingles Redcar 2 Middlesbrough and she provides singing and music for the younger children with a couple of sessions timed with Tom.
